Job Requirements For Retail Salesperson/Delivery Driver Position
To be eligible for this role, applicants should meet the following criteria:
- A background in farming or rural supply is preferred
- Retail sales or customer service experience
- Strong communication skills, you’re confident engaging with customers
- Physically fit and capable of lifting and handling agricultural products
- Sound computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems
- Full Class 2 driver’s license required
- Dangerous Goods endorsement is an advantage
- Must have the legal right to work in New Zealand
- Must pass all relevant pre-employment checks (references, Ministry of Justice check, driver’s license, and ACC history; some roles may require drug, credit, or AML checks)
Responsibilities For Retail Salesperson/Delivery Driver Position
- Provide in-store retail sales and customer service to Farmlands shareholders
- Advise customers on products related to sheep, beef, dry stock, and general farm needs
- Operate the point-of-sale system efficiently
- Assist with stock control, including ordering, receipting, restocking, and merchandising
- Deliver products safely and efficiently to customers using Class 2 vehicle
- Maintain a clean, well-organized retail and storage space
- Complete daily administrative and operational tasks as assigned
Other Responsibilities
- Support store promotions and seasonal campaigns
- Assist in inventory counts and cycle stock takes
- Build strong, long-term relationships with rural customers
- Follow health and safety procedures in both retail and delivery functions
- Act as a brand ambassador for Farmlands while on the road or in-store
- Assist with product training and onboarding of new staff when required
