Job Requirements for Beef Cattle Farm Workers
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- No degree, certificate, or diploma required
- 2 to less than 3 years of relevant farm experience preferred
- Must have a valid driver’s licence
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada (citizen, permanent resident, or valid work permit holder)
- Comfortable with physically demanding work and long hours, including overtime when needed
- Team player with excellent oral communication
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Comfortable working with animals and large machinery
- Able to take initiative and adapt to changing farm needs
Responsibilities for Beef Cattle Farm Workers
- Handle and care for beef cattle and other livestock
- Monitor animal health and behavior to identify signs of illness or injury
- Feed and water animals using proper systems and tools
- Clear and remove brush and debris from fields, barns, and pens
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including tractors, skidsteers, and manure spreaders
- Maintain accurate logs and records of farm activities
- Perform general farm maintenance, repairs, and cleaning
Other Responsibilities
- Support with calving season and cattle rotation
- Ensure safe animal handling practices
- Maintain cleanliness and biosecurity standards in animal pens and equipment
- Work collaboratively with other team members to maintain efficient operations
