Job Requirements
To be successful in this role, applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Proven experience as a cook in a commercial or residential facility
- Prior experience supervising staff and managing kitchen operations, including stock control and ordering.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, the Food Act 2014, and dietary requirements
- Ability to plan and implement compliant menu cycles (e.g., Winter/Summer menus)
- Good communication, time management, and organisational skills
- A compassionate, positive attitude and a genuine interest in working with people from diverse backgrounds
- Flexibility to work weekends when required
- Must be a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Must pass a clean police check and drug screening
- Reliable transport to and from work
Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of the Kitchen Supervisor / Cook include:

- Planning and preparing nutritious, home-style meals and snacks that meet the diverse dietary needs of residents (including allergies, modified textures, and cultural preferences)
- Supervising and mentoring a small, supportive kitchen team
- Creating and managing kitchen staff rosters to ensure adequate cover.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised kitchen in line with health and food safety standards
- Operating within a verified Food Control Plan and ensuring compliance with all relevant food safety legislation
- Managing stock control and ordering while minimising food waste
- Delivering meals to residents with varying levels of support needs, including those in aged care and individuals with intellectual or physical disabilities
