Job Requirements for the Projects Supervisor Position

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a supervisor role within civil construction and roading projects
  • Must hold a Class 1 driver’s licence and WTR endorsements
  • Proven experience in crew leadership and people management
  • Strong knowledge of GPS tools, including machine control and site set-out
  • Prior experience operating construction machinery and plant
  • Solid planning and coordination skills for labour, materials, and subcontractors
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Must pass a pre-employment medical and drug screening
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand

Responsibilities for the Projects Supervisor Position

  • Lead the day-to-day onsite delivery of civil projects across the Gisborne region
  • Manage site safety and ensure compliance with health & safety regulations for staff, contractors, and the public
  • Oversee project planning, resource allocation, and equipment coordination
  • Ensure quality standards are upheld and deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and community stakeholders
  • Mentor and develop your crews, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment
  • Monitor project progress and proactively resolve issues or delays

Other Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and timely reporting to project managers
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with the wider Fulton Hogan team on shared goals and initiatives
  • Participate in environmental and sustainability practices on-site
  • Represent the company in line with its values and community commitments
