On-the-Road Job:
This job involves working on the road, and work locations may vary. Frequent or constant travel is required of the employee.
Responsibilities:
As a delivery driver, your tasks will include:
- Operating and driving automobiles, vans, and light trucks to pick up and deliver various items and products.
- Assembling, installing, and setting up merchandise and products
- Preparing, packaging, and restocking goods.
- Loading and unloading goods
- Using maps and other trip-planning aids
- Recording trip information such as vehicle mileage, fuel costs, and any problems.
- Performing pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and overseeing all aspects of the vehicle.
- Performing preventive maintenance.
- Keeping a record of items received and delivered
- Driving lighter, special-purpose trucks.
- Operating and driving straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
- ensuring the safety and security of cargo, including tarping.
- Overseeing the condition of the vehicle and inspecting tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment.
- Sorting packages.
- Following directions and reading maps.
- Recording cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.
Credentials:
- Certificates, licenses, memberships, and courses
- Class 5/5F/G Licence (cars, small trucks, and other 2-axle vehicles)
- Driver’s License (Class 3 or D)
- DZ class license.
Experience and Specialization:
- Computer and technology knowledge
- Operating GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment.
- Type of trucking and equipment: straight truck (4,600 kg+ or 10,000 lbs+ with 3+ axles).
- Communication systems experience: trip recorder (onboard computer), Citizens Band (CB) radio
- Transportation/travel experience: local.
