Job Requirements
Pāmu is looking for someone enthusiastic, hard-working, and eager to develop their farming career. To succeed in this role, you should meet the following requirements:
- A passion for livestock farming and animal welfare
- Practical, self-motivated, and a team player with a positive attitude
- 1–2 well-controlled working dogs or a willingness to develop a dog team while on the job
- Competency in general farm tasks and pasture management
- Clear communication skills and the ability to take initiative
- A restricted or full New Zealand driver’s licence
- Openness to farm technology and data recording (training in FarmIQ will be provided)
- A responsible approach to health and safety, as well as asset care
Key Responsibilities
As a Shepherd General, your duties will include:
- Daily stock work, including feeding, handling, and mustering sheep and cattle
- Assisting in pasture management and feed budgeting
- Completing general farm maintenance and seasonal tasks
- Supporting the Farm Manager with on-farm planning and strategy execution
- Ensuring accurate data collection and using systems like FarmIQ for record-keeping
- Working closely with other staff to ensure smooth farm operations and high standards of animal care
