Job Description

They are looking for a Farm Manager (or a competent 2IC) to help run our 58-ha farm in Tirohanga (between Taupo and Tokoroa), milking 175 crossbred cows in a spring calving system. Our three-year average production is 82,877kgMS. They have a 16 ASHB with in-shed feeding and a support block for wintering our herd and producing lucerne silage for the milking platform. A modern 2-bedroom home is available on the farm.

Requirements

  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Good time management skills and initiative
  • Ability to follow a plan
  • Strong observation skills for mating and animal health
  • Good communication skills with the owners (who live on the farm)

Responsibilities

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of a 58ha farm, milking 175 crossbred cows
  • Operating a 16 ASHB with in-shed feeding
  • Utilizing a support block for wintering the herd and producing lucerne silage
  • Monitoring animal health and mating
  • Communicating effectively with the owners
