Benefits of Graduate Research Scholarships

  • Full Fee Offset: Up to two years for a Master by Research degree or up to four years for a doctoral degree.
  • Living Allowance: $37,000 per year pro rata (2024 full-time study rate) for up to two years for a Master by Research degree or up to 3.5 years for a doctoral degree. This allowance may be indexed annually and includes limited paid sick, maternity, and parenting leave.
  • Relocation Grant: $2000 for students moving from within Australia (outside Victoria) or $3000 for students moving from outside Australia.
  • Health Cover: Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Single Membership for international students requiring a student visa.

Fee Offset Scholarships

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for this scholarship, you must:

  • Apply for and meet the entry requirements for a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne, or
  • Be currently enrolled in a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne.

Application Process for Graduate Research Scholarships

  1. New Students: If you have applied for a graduate research course by the application deadline, you will automatically be considered for the Graduate Research Scholarships. You will receive a notification within ten business days after submitting your course application.
  2. Deferred Students: If you have deferred commencement and want to be reconsidered for a scholarship, submit an online application by 31 October. You will receive a notification that a scholarship application has been added to your record within ten business days of submission.
  3. Current Students: If you are currently enrolled in a graduate research course and seek a scholarship, submit an online application by 31 October. You will receive a notification that a scholarship application has been added to your record within ten business days of submission.
