Ewha Womans University offers generous scholarship opportunities for international students. These scholarships are part of the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) program and are available for various Master’s and PhD fields of study.
Eligibility
- Health Requirements: Applicants must be physically and mentally healthy for the duration of the program.
- Educational Background: Students must meet the educational background and language requirements specified by their chosen study program.
- Academic Performance: Applicants must have a CGPA of at least 2.64 out of 4.0 or be in the top 20% of their class in previous education.
- Age Limit: Applicants must be under 40 years old (or under 45 years old for academic professors from Official Development Assistance (ODA) countries).
- Current GKS Scholars: GKS Scholars are allowed to apply with additional requirements.
- Nationality: Applicants must be citizens of GKS partner countries, not hold Korean citizenship, and not have parents with Korean citizenship.
- Application Restrictions: Applicants should not apply for the GKS University Track in other universities.

Required Documents
- Passport Copy: Applicant’s and parents’.
- Family Registration Certificate: Proof of relationship.
- Application Form: Provided by NIIED.
- Personal Statement and Study Plan: Detailed and well-written.
- Recommendation Letter: At least one.
- GKS Applicant Agreement: Signed.
- Health Check Report: Up-to-date.
- Degree Certificates and Transcripts: Undergraduate (for Master’s) and graduate (for PhD) with notarization by the Korean Embassy or Apostille.
- Language Proficiency Test Results: Korean and English (optional).
- Performance Video: For specific arts majors (optional for others).
Note: Submitted documents will not be returned. Documents must be originals or certified copies and translations must be certified if not in English or Korean.
Selection Process
- University Selection: Ewha Womans University will assess applications based on academic achievements, potential, and other criteria.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an online interview.
- NIIED Selection: Successful candidates from the university selection will be recommended to the National Institute for International Education (NIIED) for final selection.
- Final Announcement: Results will be announced on the official Study in Korea website.
