Summerset, one of New Zealand’s leading retirement village operators, is looking for two dedicated Kitchen Assistants to join their vibrant Papamoa village in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty. You’ll be working in the heart of the kitchen, helping prepare and deliver meals that bring comfort and joy to the village community.

Job Requirements
Summerset is looking for individuals who are:
- Approachable, reliable, and team-oriented
- Experienced in hospitality or kitchen work (preferred)
- Physically fit with the ability to stand for long periods and lift supplies
- Self-motivated with a can-do attitude and great communication skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a supportive team
Applicants must be available to work one of the following shift options:
- Option One: 6 shifts per fortnight, 9am – 4pm (39 hours per fortnight)
- Option Two: 8 shifts per fortnight, 4pm – 7pm (24 hours per fortnight)
Responsibilities
As a Kitchen Assistant, you’ll support the chefs in running a clean, efficient kitchen and contribute to creating nutritious, well-presented meals. Your duties will include:
- Basic food prep (peeling, chopping, portioning)
- Helping with meal plating and presentation
- Operating dishwashers and sanitizing kitchenware
- Maintaining a clean and compliant kitchen environment
- Receiving and storing deliveries, including stock rotation
You will be a vital part of the kitchen’s success and play a key role in enhancing residents’ wellbeing.
