Construction Supervisor – Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (2-Year Fixed Term Contract)

OceanaGold is looking for an experienced Construction Supervisor to join the Waihi North Project team. This is a key leadership role in which you’ll be responsible for supervising and coordinating all EIC-related construction activities, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

Job Requirements for Construction Supervisor Position

• Relevant trade qualification in electrical, instrumentation, or controls
• 15+ years’ total construction experience, including 5+ years in leadership roles
• Field Safety Management training or qualifications (preferred)
• Formal Supervisory or Leadership training (advantageous)
• Strong contractor workforce management experience
• Demonstrated ability to plan, lead, and execute construction in operational environments
• Proven ability to ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies
• Must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand

Responsibilities for the Construction Supervisor Position

• Mentor and monitor construction crews to ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence
• Participate in the development of construction schedules, estimates, and work plans
• Liaise with operations to coordinate construction activities with minimal disruptions
• Manage construction-related shutdowns and tie-ins affecting production
• Maintain daily reports on progress, incidents, delays, and milestones
• Identify, report, and resolve any non-conformance or safety issues on-site
• Attend pre-start and safety meetings and actively engage in risk assessments
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping at all construction sites
• Oversee contractor compliance with safe work systems
• Assist the Construction Superintendent in resource allocation and team coordination

Other Responsibilities

• Ensure timely reporting of critical issues to the Project Manager and Superintendent
• Support and implement corrective actions for construction delays or incidents
• Provide technical leadership during complex or high-risk works
• Coordinate with various teams during the planning and execution of tie-in shutdowns
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of construction practices and culture
