Job Requirements

To qualify for the Fabricator Welder role, applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • A trade qualification, such as a National Certificate in Engineering Level 4 or equivalent, is essential.
  • At least one year of experience in a similar role, with proven competence in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Solid experience with Mig solid wire welding positions.
  • A good understanding of general mechanical engineering workshops and their requirements.
  • The ability to operate workshop equipment, including overhead gantry cranes, press brakes, and guillotines (preferred).
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work efficiently individually and as part of a team.
  • Good numeracy and communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Applicants must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test if required.
  • NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa is a must.

Responsibilities

As a Fabricator Welder, you will play a key role in ensuring the company’s high standards are upheld in product fabrication. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to create products to exact specifications.
  • Cutting, preparing, and setting out job lots of steel ready for manufacturing processes.
  • Marking and setting out of workpieces, then assembling and welding components to meet technical and quality specifications.
  • Operating a variety of equipment such as overhead gantry cranes, press brakes, and guillotines (preferred).
  • Ensuring all fabricated components meet quality standards and are delivered within specified timeframes.
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy workshop environment while ensuring all safety and health protocols are followed.
  • Working collaboratively with other members of the team to meet production goals and exceed internal and external customer expectations.
