Mt Hutt Ski Area, one of New Zealand’s premier ski resorts, is looking for a Senior Terrain Park Crew Member to join their team for the 2025 ski season. This role is perfect for individuals with advanced skiing or snowboarding skills who have experience in terrain park design, safety management, and snow feature construction.

As a Senior Terrain Park Crew Member, you will assist the Team Leader and Head of Department in maintaining the terrain park, ensuring a safe, progressive, and visually appealing environment for guests. Your responsibilities will include coordinating daily park operations, maintaining snow features, assisting with crew training and scheduling, and ensuring all terrain park elements meet the highest safety standards.

Job Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates should have:

  • Advanced skiing or snowboarding skills, with the ability to ride all terrain park features and jumps.
  • Experience in terrain park feature design and construction, including joinery, fabrication, and painting.
  • Knowledge of terrain park maintenance techniques, such as spacing requirements, snow quality, salting, and dyeing.
  • Basic understanding of snow cat and snowmaking capabilities (advantageous).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to coordinate a team and assist in training crew members.
  • A strong commitment to health and safety, ensuring all terrain park activities adhere to best practices.
  • Ability to manage schedules, labor allocation, and event logistics related to the park.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.

Responsibilities

Assist the Team Leader in overseeing daily terrain park operations.

  • Maintain terrain park features by raking, shoveling, salting, and dyeing to ensure they meet safety and aesthetic standards.
  • Test park features daily and assess open/closed status.
  • Assist with crew training, scheduling, and rostering to ensure smooth operations.
  • Design and build terrain park elements, taking into account safety, progression, and guest experience.
  • Set up fencing and signage to guide park users and mark closed features.
  • Manage event logistics and ensure terrain park readiness for special activities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, educating guests on park safety and proper usage.
  • Promote sustainability and efficient use of resources in park operations.
